    Cooperation between Guangdong and HK Customs against cross-border IP infringement made achievements

    It’s reported that since July 2013 when the collaboration between Guangdong and HK customs was established, the two sides have carried out more than 100 partnership projects with regard to the administrative and criminal protection of patent, trademark, copyright and other IP matters.
    According to the report, 422 IP infringement cases involving smuggled goods bound for Hong Kong have been investigated by Guangdong Customs. Total value of the goods reached more than 70 million RMB.
    During the 2 separate joint operations in 2013 and 2014, the two sides investigated 15 cases and seized more than 1,300 infringing goods with total value of 140,000 RMB.

    It’s learnt that there would be 17 cooperation projects in 2014. The tasks include enhancing cooperation in border protection of IP, improving cooperation mechanism in IP enforcement, intensifying combat against shipping and postal express smuggling and infringements, promoting bilateral IP trade and cooperation in the service industry, helping Hong Kong residents take the national patent agent exam and promoting Guangdong’s famous trademark recognition in Hong Kong,etc.
