It’s decided by the recent Standing Committee of the National People's Congress that China will set up special courts for intellectual property rights (IPR) cases in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
The IP courts will be established according to the types and numbers of the IP cases.
The IP courts shall be in charge of civil and administrative cases regarding patents, new plant varieties, integrated circuit layout designs, technological knowledge, copyright and trademark. Beijing IP court will be additionally in charge of the first instance administrative cases of IP authorization and determination.
Appeals against the verdicts of the IP courts will be handled by the local higher people's courts.
