China recently started the 10th campaign against online infringement and piracy, which lasts until November in 2014. The campaign focuses on the following aspects.
1.In order to protect digital copyrights of works, video, music, games and software, local government and authorities will investigate online website, ecommerce platforms, and mobile intelligent terminal app stores, search engines, online advertising alliance and other network carriers. Internet enterprises will be encouraged to conduct inspection and correction within themselves. The enterprises who fail to rectify themselves will get severe punishment.
2.Government and authorities will regulate the use of online copyrighted works and improve the online copyright licensing and republishing payment mechanism. Those who republish or spread copyrighted works without permission will be severely punished. The website will be blocked when it’s found to be involved in online infringement or piracy that causes significant social harm. Complaints or information provided for online infringement and piracy will be received by SIPO and local authorities through various channels, such as hotlines, e-mail service and letters.
3.National Copyright Administration, other related authorities and the judicial organs will jointly investigate and dispose major cases of online infringement and piracy, and promote IPR protection via administrative or judicial procedures. The authorities will intensify supervision on websites related to copyrights of videos, literary works and games and promote copyright cooperation between medium presses and commercial websites.
