China plans to establish its first special IP courts

    4/25/2014|EVENTS

In order to meet the increasing demand for IP litigations in China’s booming innovations, China plans to establish its first special IP court, possibly in Guangdong province, one of China’s most prosperous areas.

According to the Vice President of Guangdong Provincial Higher People's Court, several cities might be approved to set up IP courts. The new IP courts are expected to be set up after study of German and Japanese IP courts.

The new IP courts need special and professional judges who are familiar with not only the laws and procedures but also science and technology. IP cases are extremely complicated, and  not all courts in China are qualified to hear such kind of cases.”
