    China has made significant achievements and progress in IP in 2013

    The 2014 National Intellectual Property Publicity Week was launched in April which present the significant achievements and progress China made in IP in 2013.  

    The statistics shows that, SIPO received 825,000 patent applications for invention, ranking the first in the world, and the number of valid invention patents per 10,000 people reached 4.02.

    In terms of PCT filings, China ranked third after the U.S. and Japan. With regard to trademark applications, China received 1.8815 million applications for trademark registrations, ranking the first in the world for 12 consecutive years. The numbers of copyright registrations for works and software, applications for new varieties of agricultural plants and forestry plants all hit record high.

    It's learnt that during the publicity week nearly 60 activities were carried out by government authorities nationwide. During the week, the report on the Development of Chinese IPR Status in 2013 was released; the Supreme Court released Judicial Protection of Intellectual Property by Chinese courts of 2013; the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) held “2014 Electronic Information Industry Intellectual Property Forum & Key Technology Patent Trend” Conference; and the National Copyright Administration(NCA) released “2013 White Paper on 10 Typical Cases of Combating Piracy and Process of China Software Legalization Work”.
