In order to protect trademarks and copyrights of the International Federation of Association of Football and other sponsors, the General Administration of Customs of China (hereinafter GAC) launched a special campaign against trademark and copyright infringement related to the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The campaign will last till the end of July in 2014.
According to the GAC, customs of all regions should strictly monitor the products exported to Brazil and other Central and South American countries. With regard to the commodities involved in IP rights recorded in GAC, the customs should carefully check whether these commodities are produced by legitimate users or commissioned by the legitimate IP owners.
It’s learnt that certain measures have been taken by the GAC in this campaign, such as training provided by IP holders to enforcement officers in distinguishing infringing products, helping export enterprises to contact IP owners and identify foreign orders to prevent infringement.
