The first IP Protection Assistance Center for furniture industry was recently established in Dongguan City, Guangdong Province. The purpose is to facilitate IP disputes handling and provide IP consulting and other related services in furniture industry.
Dongguan is the major base for more than 20,000 furniture manufacturers of China and also the trading center for 75% of the furniture export of Guangdong Province. Up to now there are about 19,000 patents owned by the furniture industry in Dongguan, accounting for more than 20% of the total patents owned by the furniture industry in Guangdong province. Most of the patents are design patents.
Formerly known as IP service center, the IP Protection Assistance Center of Dongguan handled more than 100 IP disputes through conciliation or transferring cases to administrative or judicial organs.
It’s reported that IP Protection Assistance Center of Dongguan will start to operate since the late of May 2014. Services include receiving IP complaints, conciliating patent disputes, providing IP agent services, etc.
