IP cases handled by Chinese courts sharply increased in 2013

    3/21/2014|EVENTS

According to the statistics from Supreme People’s Court(SPC) and Supreme People's Procuratorate(SPP), Chinese courts at all levels concluded a total of 100,000 first-instance cases related to intellectual property matters in 2013, a significant rise over the previous year. Meanwhile, prosecutors nationwide filed criminal charges against more than 8,800 suspects involved in violations of trademarks, patents, copyrights and trade secrets, etc.

It is learned that more efforts will be taken in 2014 to promote construction of IP courts to improve integration of IP resources and judicial system for IP protection in China. In order to improve the efficiency of hearing IP cases, the trial system of “three-to-one” (one tribunal hearing the administrative, civil and criminal cases relating to IP) will be further developed.
