According to the office of the national leading group for combating IPR infringement and counterfeiting, China's crackdown on IPR infringement and counterfeiting will shift its focus to online sales of counterfeits and pirated products, the import and export commodities. Cooperation will be developed with service providers of online e-commerce business to fight against counterfeit activities.
In recent years, online activities of infringement and counterfeiting significantly increased along with the boom of online shopping in China. As of 2011, 9 government agencies including Ministry of Commerce jointly issued a notice to require actions against the IP infringement and counterfeit products arising from online shopping.
In 2014, a centered database will be established to include all information relating to the honesty and credibility of enterprises. In addition to the registration details of the enterprises, information relating to the IP infringement and counterfeits activities will be loaded into the database. By doing this, both consumers and enterprises will be able to identify the fraudulent acts done by some enterprises, a significant change in view of the credibility and transparency.
