A recent Memorandum of Geographical Indications (GIs) Cooperation between China and Thailand signals a further step of international cooperation in protecting geographical indication products (GIs) between China and other countries. The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine(AQSIQ) has approved the protection of 14 GIs products from abroad, including EU, US, and Japan. China also has 10 GIs products officially protected in EU territory.
According to the statistic of AQSIQ, up to now, China has protected more than 1,500 geographical indication products.
