Recently, Global Innovation Index 2013(hereinafter as GII 2013) was published by World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). According to GII 2013, Switzerland is the most innovative nation in the world for 2013, followed by Sweden and the United Kingdom, Netherlands, and United States of America. Hong Kong (China) ranked 7th, and China ranked the 35th.
The rankings this year shows that the gap still exists between developed and developing economies. While the developed economies overwhelmingly lead the global innovation, the emerging and developing economies and countries like China are realizing the full potential of innovation and seeking national-level policy to support innovation in their own countries.
