In mid-June, the fifth Senior WIPO Road-show on Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) was respectively held in Beijing and Xi'an.
According to remarks from SIPO official, PCT system has become an effective tool for Chinese enterprises in international competitive market. Since China became member of the PCT in 1994, remarkable achievement has been made. In 2012, China filed 18,145 international applications by using PCT, a growth rate of 13.6%, ranking the fourth in the world in terms of PCT filings. With the development of PCT system and promotion of implementation of the national IP strategy in China, it is expected that more Chinese enterprises will be using PCT system in order to obtain patent protection in foreign countries. This will further encourage Chinese companies to go into the international market.
The senior seminar is the fifth one jointly held by SIPO and WIPO after 2009.
