Recently, the General Office of the State Council issued the 2013 Notice of Major Tasks for the Nationwide Crackdown on IPR Infringement and the Production and Sales of Counterfeit and Shoddy Commodities (hereinafter as the Notice). The Notice requires for implementation of major tasks by all provinces, municipalities, ministries and department under the State Council.
This Notice consists of 5 major tasks: 1. Launching special campaigns against the production and sales of counterfeit and shoddy commodities, and focusing on agricultural production materials, fake food and drug products, infringing and counterfeit commodities in the Import and Export, and online commodity trading websites; 2. Combating IP infringement of trademark, copyright, patent and other IP-related fields, strengthening supervision and management of the cultural market and establishing long-term mechanism for use of genuine software. 3. Maintaining a strict attitude toward criminal investigation and judicial punishment for related illegal activities. 4. Building a long-term mechanism for legislations, coordination between administrative enforcement and criminal justice, assessment and supervision, case information release. 5. Intensifying publicity for IP protection, improving enforcement capacity, and cooperating with developed countries to fight against cross-border crimes and supporting Chinese enterprises to safeguard their intellectual property for overseas operation.
