According to the recently released report on Chinese Intellectual Property Development in 2012 , the IP administrative enforcement and protection were further enhanced in China.
The leading group of the Special Campaign against IPR Infringements and the Manufacturing and Selling of Counterfeited and Shoddy Goods under the State Council set up a long-term mechanism for IP protection and some campaigns were organized to strengthen administrative enforcement and judicial protection for IP including but not limited to actions such as “Swordnet Operation”, “Bluesea Operation” and “Escort Operation” .Enhanced efforts were made to fight against fake e cigarettes and alcohol in the market. Supervisory measures were taken to intensify the online copyright protection.
With regard to regulations, the SAIC and the General Administration of Customs jointly issued the Interim Provisions on Strengthening Enforcement Cooperation in Trademark Protection, and The Opinions on the Convergence of Industry and Commerce Administrative Enforcement and Criminal Justice jointly with Supreme People's Procuratorate and Ministry of Public Security.
Also in 2012, governmental agencies across the country completed check on the use of legal software.
