Recently, Regulation on IP Management by Enterprise (hereinafter as the “Regulation”) drafted by State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) has been approved and published by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) and Standardization Administration of PRC. This is China's first national standard on IP management within enterprises, and will be implemented on March 1, 2013.
The issuance of the Regulation is to improve the capability of Intellectual Property management for Chinese companies, guide enterprises to establish a scientific, systematic, standardized IP management system, and help local companies to raise IP competition ability in the international market.
The Regulation formulate the “enterprise management system” as the standardization object, and consists of nine chapters including the scope of enterprise IP management, standardized reference files, terms and definitions, the system, responsibility, resource of IP management, etc.
It is learnt that the Regulation was first proposed by SIPO in 2011, and jointly drafted and completed by SIPO and the China National Institute of Standardization.
