Recently, the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) and Tianjin Municipal People's Government jointly signed an agreement to establish a patent examination coordination center in Tianjin.
The establishment of the Center aims to promote the local IP development, enhance the self-innovation capability in Tianjin City. The operation of the Tianjin center will be a new approach between SIPO and local government to share patent information resource, attract high-quality patent service agencies, and advance the IP transaction.
Tianjin center is the 5th patent examination center outside Beijing followed by Guangdong, Jiangsu, Henan and Hubei. By the end of 2017, a staff of over 2000 patent examiners and 120 administrative members will be enrolled and the center will be capable of examining about 110,000 patent applications annually.
