Recently, Guangzhou Intellectual Property Office issued Measures on Rewarding the Acts of Reporting Patent Counterfeiting (hereinafter as the Measures) which are to be effective for a term of 5 years.
According to the Measures, each reporter will be offered with up to 50,000 Renminbi yuan as award and an additional 20,000 Renninbi yuan if his/her clues make great contribution to major special campaign or joint enforcement activities at national, provincial and municipal levels. The amount of award will be subject to the usefulness of the clues and reporters will have more convenient ways to submit clues and receive rewards.
According to statistics, in 2010 and 2011, the Office handled a total of 78 counterfeit cases relating to patent with 1.8 million Renminbi yuan fined and confiscated, in which 57 cases were filed based on public clues, accounting for 73% of the total cases.
