The Intellectual Property Development and Research Center under the State Intellectual Property Office recently released the ranking of national and regional patent strength of 2011. Guangdong,Beijing and Jiangsu were listed as the top three.
In addition to the strength of patent, the ranking also took into account index such as patent creation, utilization, protection, administration and service. In terms of creation of patents, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong ranked top three; in terms of utilization, Guangdong, Beijing and Jiangsu were the first three; in terms of protection, Guangdong, Hunan and Jiangsu stood out among other areas; in terms of administration, Jiangsu, Guangdong and Beijing ranked top three; in terms of service, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong were listed as top three.
According to the Director of the Intellectual Property Development and Research Center, the ranking can reflect patent development condition in each area and can provide strong support for scientific development of patent cause. It is the first time to release the ranking and from now on, the ranking list will be annually published in the national IP Publicity Week.
