Recently, the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) announced that 23 cities including Wuhan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Changsha, Chengdu, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Jinan, Qingdao, Zhengzhou, Harbin, Nanjing, Nantong, Zhenjiang, Fuzhou, Dongying, Dalian, Yantai, Luoyang, Quanzhou, Wenzhou, Xi’an and Wuhu were selected as the first list of model cities for intellectual property.
The evaluation takes into account the factors of governmental investment, IP output, utilization of IP, IP protection and IP environment as well as innovative measures and outstanding achievement of IP.
These model cities should act as leaders in upgrading the comprehensive capabilities of intellectual property, exploring effective ways for IP-driven innovation. By doing this, it is expected that experiences are to be accumulated in promoting the regional development and push forward the IP cause for purpose of implementing the IP strategy.
Up to now, there are a total of 104 model cities for IP in China.
