On 25-27 May 2012, the 3rd China (Taizhou) International Pharma, Biotech & Chemical Intellectual Property Forum was held in the Chinese Medical City in Taizhou, Jiangsu province. The forum was co-organized by the Chinese-American Chemical Society, American Chemical Society, China Intellectual Property Society, Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, and Intellectual Property Office of Jiangsu Province, and was supported by the State Intellectual Property Office, the State Food and Drug Administration and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
This triennial forum had a theme of “Global IP Protection, Innovation Transfer and Technology Commercialization”. Directors from SIPO and USPTO attended the conference and gave keynote presentation. Discussion was held around hot topics such as “Invention and Patent Strategies”, “Patent Application and IP Protection”, and “Assignment and Commercialization of Invention Patents”. The conference drew participants from all over the world, including officials from patent offices, court judges, IP attorneys and scholars, as well as representatives from leading healthcare and chemical companies.
NTD Patent & Trademark Agency Ltd. (NTD) was represented in the forum by four patent attorneys. The firm’s vice president Ms. Heather Lin gave a presentation titled “Biologic drug patents in China: Obtaining meaningful and enforceable protection”.
