Since the special campaign against the IP infringement and sale and manufacture of counterfeit and fake products from October of 2010, the Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine(AQSIQ) have mobilized 930,000 enforcement officials and investigated 79,000 IP infringement cases worthy of 4.8 billion Renminbi yuan. Of all the cases handled, 309 cases were transferred to public security departments for further proceedings.
The statistic shows that there is new trend of IP infringement and counterfeiting activities. High-tech means were used and internet became a new area to be used in infringement and counterfeiting. According to the officials from AQSIQ, a long-term mechanism of intra-institutional coordination is established at all levels across China to find any clue and sources of manufacture. For example, in Wuxi of Jiangsu province, the AQSIQ targeted at a market of sale and manufacture of famous international brands and confiscated infringing goods valuing 1 million Renminbi yuan.
