According to the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAA) , the check of use of legitimate software in 135 government agencies was completed by the end of May 2011 Statistics show that, from October of 2010 to the end of May 2011, central government agencies spent a total of 140.91 million Renminbi yuan purchasing or updating 176,763 sets of licensed software . The purchases included 24.88 million Renminbi yuan for 66,511 sets of domestically developed software and 116.03 million Renminbi yuan for 110,252 foreign software.
By doing this, a preliminary software asset management system has been established and a long-term mechanism has also been set up for purchasing, using and administering the genuine software.
The efforts were done to comply with the State Council's regulation issued in October 2010 requiring that all central and local government agencies should complete the work of using genuine and authorized software by the end of May and October 2011.
