Recently, White Paper on Intellectual Property for Film and Audio-visual Industry in China (hereinafter refers to as the White Paper) was released in Beijing. This is the first research report on intellectual property by China Enterprise Evaluation Association. The white paper studied the current situation of the intellectual property in the film and audio-visual industry in China, listed the issues relating to the copyright protection, proposed corresponding approaches and called on the relevant agencies for strengthening of the enforcement and implementation of the laws and policies.
According to the white paper, piracy and infringement are still serious and there is a high rate of piracy in places such as the internet, hotels, KTV, schools, and libraries. It is said the piracy rate is about 50%. In order to protect the development of the innovation and cultural industry, the white paper provided for some solutions in areas of legislation, enforcement, administration, etc. Further, more efforts will be made towards the education and training, public awareness for IP, Other important aspects are administration for IP and protection of trade secret as well as the establishment of innovative models within enterprises.
