Recently, the commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of the P. R. China (SIPO) and the commissioner of the Japan Patent Office (JPO) met in Beijing and exchanged their views on the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH).
The SIPO and the JPO believe that the PPH pilot program is both efficient and important. Both offices agree to start the program. At this stage, the trial program is to check the internal procedures and try very limited number of patent applications.
When both offices have completed the trial stage and complete the implementation agreement for PPH, any applicant can, according to the relevant requirement, file a request for PPH.
