Recently, the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China (MOC) carried out a special campaign against illegal music transmission on the internet in order to promote intellectual property rights (IPR) in culture market.
During the campaign, MOC investigated a total of 564 websites which provided services of broadcasting, trial-listening, using and downloading. About 237 music websites were ordered to stop illegal business activities, of which 130 were shut down due to illegal activities. To further strengthen the campaign, MOC issued a notice to filter the websites related to music transmission.
With regard to major cases complained by the music associations, MOC supervised 5 cases and the related parties already closed their businesses.
Further MOC published a black list and required local efforts for settlement. It is learned that MOC will continue to issue such black list and set up a long-term mechanism in order to combat the piracy and other illegal activities related to IP.
