Beijing's Xiushui Market, better known as the Silk Street market, is one of the capital’s biggest popular shopping destinations for international tourists. In order to change its reputation as the place for cheap imitations of high-end designer goods, it introduced an authorized selling system. Under the system, the seller is required to obtain the authorization before selling the products of different brands, especially the famous brands.
The administrative agency for the Silk Market also submitted a legislative proposal to the legislative body urging that buyer of fake products should also be legally liable.
