Recently, Beijing No.1 Intermediate People’s Court publicized top ten typical foreign-related IP cases.
According to an analysis of all the foreign-related IP cases received by Beijing No.1 Intermediate People’s Court from 2006 to 2010, there was an increase of 470% in 5-year time. The total number is 2691, and by the end of October of 2010, the number reached 1367. Of all the cases concluded, 55.2% were completely or partially in favor of foreign parties. The total compensation for foreign parties was more than 48 million Renminbi yuan.
Of the 10 major cases, 5 cases were concluded in favor of foreign parties, 4 cases were settled by mediation. Only 1 case was concluded in which the foreign party failed.
Foreign parties in the 10 cases include Google, Microsoft, Ferrero S.P.A, 20th CENTURY FOX Film Corp,etc.
