In order to further create a favorable environment for IPR protection and promote national software industry development, General Office of the Chinese State Council recently issued a circular on urging government agencies to use genuine software(hereinafter the circular).
According to the circular, government agencies at all levels should pay close attention to the use if genuine software. It should be listed as one of important tasks and should be regularly checked. According to the official from National Copyright Administration of China, by the end of May 2011, inspections over whether genuine software is used should be completed among central government agencies. The checks for local government agencies should be finished before the end of October 2011. The circular also urges the use of genuine software in Chinese enterprises.
Greater efforts will be made to establish a long-term mechanism comprising funding, procurement, utilization and asset management for ensuring the use of genuine software among government agencies.
It is learnt that the special campaign on promoting the use of authorized software and urging pre-installed genuine operating system software by government agencies at all levels began in 2001.
