The Supreme People’s Court revealed that, in the first half of 2010, a total of 500 criminal cases relating to intellectual property were settled and 809 suspects were sentenced.
Of all the cases, 235 were cases relating to counterfeit registered trademarks,134 cases relating to sale of products bearing the counterfeit registered trademarks, 67cases relating to illegal manufacture and sale of illegally manufactured trademark representations, 1 case relating to passing-off of patent, 46 cases relating to copyright, 17 cases relating to trade secrets.
It is learnt from the Supreme People’s Court that courts across the country will fully utilize the roles of criminal protection for IP and the relevant sanctions to enhance the efforts against the criminal activities on IP.
