Recently, State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly launched the IP strategy promotion project among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Beijing.
The goal of the project is to comprehensively improve the creation, application, protection and management of intellectual property by SMEs and accelerate the development of independent IP rights, famous brands and core competitiveness.
According to the project, 3 years will be taken to build 2 parks where SMEs have the independent IP rights. More than 10 intermediate service institutes will be set up to assist the enterprises in intellectual property. At least 200 to 300 working staff and managers of IP will be trained. Public services relating to IP will also be provided to the SMEs. By these measures, the SMEs will be considered as model for other industries. The ultimate goal is to increase the number of enterprises with IP rights in order to avoid any risk and improve the competiveness.
In recent years, the rapid development of SMEs has become an important force for economic development in Beijing, and Zhongguancun Park and Yizhuang New City witnessed the growth and role of the SMEs.
