It is recently leanrned from a meeting of the State Council that China will launch a special campaign to crack down on intellectual property infringement activities and activities relating to the production and distribution of fake and counterfeit products in order to improve IP protection in China and maintain a fair and orderly market.
The special campaign will target at copyright, trademark, patent and new plant varieties and industries such as press and publishing, cultural and entertainment, high-technology and agriculture. More attention will be paid to the concentrated areas of manufacturing and distribution. The following measures are to be taken in order to create a favorable environment for IP protection.
First, Strengths will be oriented at the manufacturing resources. Actions will be taken against the illegal printing, reproduction of different kinds of publications, printing materials, disks, computer softwares and packaging, trademark representation; Second. Supervision will be enhanced for the market. Illegal activities of piracy, patent infringement and counterfeit will be investigated and settled; Third, IP protection in the import and export as well as the internet will be strengthened. More work will be done for the protection of IP at the exhibitions; Fourth, Criminal liabilities will be fully used. The coordination will be further implemented between the administrative and criminal enforcement; Fifth, Guarantee will be given so that government agencies will always use the legal software. 6. More efforts will be carries to disseminate the IP information.
The special campaign will last for half a year, beginning from the end of October.
