The Electric Vehicle Industry Alliance was recently established, members of which are state-owned enterprises (SOEs). The alliance is to be led by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC).
The alliance's short-term goal is to promote the unification of electric car-related technologies, and its medium and long-term goal is to master the core and independently-owned technology for electric vehicles and build Chinese electric car brands in the international market.
The total investments in the new-energy vehicle industry is said to be increased to 100 billion Renminbi yuan by 2012.
