According to the IP-related administrative agencies in Shanghai and the Coordinating Bureau of Shanghai Expo, achievement has been made in IP protection and IP services since May 1 when Shanghai Expo was opened to the public.
As of June 22, the IP service center at the Shanghai Expo had received 113 enquiries submitted either on the spot or by e-mail and telephone. 44 requests for exhibition were received from Germany pavilion, Czech pavilion, Mexico pavilion, etc. The IP service center also assisted exhibitors and the performance organizers in applying for copyright license before China Music Copyright Association in order to use musical works at the Expo. 15 licenses were issued to the United Nations pavilion, Zhejiang Museum and others respectively.
With regard to the protection if IP, 359 cases were handled related to the infringement of the Expo signs. 12330 hotline received a total of 208 calls and 16 cases went into the next phase of proceedings, including 5 trademark cases, 2 patent cases, 1 copyright case and 7 cases on Expo symbols.
