In order to further encourage enforcement departments and officers to be more actively involved in the investigation and settlement against piracy, the National Copyright Administration of China (hereinafter NCAC) recently rewarded 169 entities and 173 individuals for their outstanding efforts made in 2009 against piracy. A total of 4.931 million RMB were rewarded to these entities and individuals. The entities include administrations for press and publication, public security, customs, and culture.
The reward was first set up in 2008, aiming at mobilizing all social resources to engage in the battle against piracy and infringement. The reward is a special fund administered by NCAC and is arranged by the special national financial program. In addition, NCAC formulated the Provisional measures and implementing rules in order to regulate the fund and appraisal process for such reward.
