Recently, 2 flooring enterprises, Jiangsu Dewei Wood Industry Company and Shenzhen Yekalon Industry Company, jointly initiated the China Flooring Alliance in Beijing. Members are some strong enterprises in flooring industry and IP trial enterprises. The alliance connects the flooring industry by means of core patent, aiming to safeguard the legal right of Chinese flooring industry and expand their influence in the global market.
A patent pool will be set up within the alliance to be used against the IP barriers from foreign flooring giants. In addition, a public platform for IP information will also be created among the members of the alliance. Other measures include establishment of innovation reward fund to enhance the innovative capability of the enterprises, cross-licensing of patent to encourage the innovation and promote the development of the industry. The alliance will also play an active role in the international litigations and coordinate in the international investigation relating to patent and litigation. Technical or monetary support may also be provided to the member when they are in patent dispute.
It happens that the flooring industry in recent years run into more frequent trouble in the international trade such as anti-dumping investigation in Canada or 37 investigation in US. The establishment of the alliance will help the unification of innovation and strengthen the ability in combating the IP barrier in the international trade.
