According to the newly issued statistics by Zhejiang Provincial Intellectual Property Office, as of the end of this April, the number of granted patents for Yiwu was 1,0581,, of which 144,were patents for inventions, 3496 patents for utility models and 6941 patents for industrial designs.
In recent years, it has become a goal for Yiwu to improve the city’s comprehensive capability for innovation. For this purpose, efforts have been made to perfect the institutional constructions, implement the IP strategy, technical standards and brands, and strengthen the IP protection. Enterprises are encouraged to take an active role in the formulation of international, national and professional standards. In addition, the enterprises are encouraged to create their independent IP right so as to be more competitive in the market.
Measures have been provided in order to enhance the enthusiasm of enterprises in patent matters. Yiwu S&T Bureau issued the Administrative Measures for Patent-Trial Enterprises and promotes the development of the enterprises with innovation and patents. By the end of 2009, there were 44 patent trial enterprises in total. It is learned that subsidies and awards are to be give to those patent trial enterprises, the enterprise with granted patents, and the enterprises with patent implementation. The maximum subsidy is 20,000RMB yuan for a national patent for invention and 80,000RMB yuan for a foreign patent for invention.
