According to a high official from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the identification of independently innovated new products in 2010 is to be started. All Chinese entities including foreign-capital enterprises are welcome to submit applications for independently innovated new products.
The products should be in the following technical areas: computer and application devices, telecommunication, modern office equipment, new energy resources and equipment, highly energy-saving.
Of course, several factors have to be met in order to be identified the independently innovated product. One of the factors is that there should be no dispute over the intellectual property rights from the products. The applicant should have the right of use for the trademark of the products. Moreover, the product should be already in the channel of marketing for sale or have the potential economic value.
After the submission of the applications, a list will be issued for public comments. Where there is no opposition within the prescribed period, the product will be then in the list of national independently innovated products.
